Julie has been telling me to try that Apples to Apples game for two years, and I didn’t because I thought it was entirely confusing and dumb and I didn’t like the color of the box, but in desperation for an activity to do with Rite 13 at church, I bought it, and it was the most awesome thing ever. They loved it. I loved it. One person plays an adjective, like sad or cool. Everyone else plays a noun card, and they can play whatever they feel like, whether that is accurate or funny. For example, someone played the word “Canada” for sad. I don’t think that Canada is sad, but it really struck me funny that someone would play that. Another person played “butter.” Also inexplicably hilarious. Everyone gets to lead the game at some point, it goes fast, and no one feels bad about not getting picked. In short, perfect for spazzy 13 year olds.
I don’t always pay attention in church. I was thinking about my calendar in the middle of the sermon, wanting to pull it out and add some dates. Must. Pay. Better. Attention. To. The Lord.
I was running around all weekend with various house-guest and church chores and I have a big fat pile of laundry still. And no clean socks. Or underwear.
Vegetarian hot dogs have no relation to vegetables or hot dogs, but are comforting in a doughy sort of way.
I want to have more conversations that don’t involve teaching.
