  1. Sitting up tonight with a sick friend. Praying for a good healing night of sleep for him.  Makes me think of another friend whose son is having chemo treatments.  Wish I could spell her for a night too.
  2. Garden growing great guns (G!) but I think I might have traumatized a couple of the tomato plants by trying to get them in a tomato cage.  Know now that that is the sort of thing that should go on at the beginning of the season.
  3. Ali and I saw Harry Potter 6.  Not terribly impressed.  Just not a lot of story there.
  4. Not sure what to watch on Netflix as the night goes on.  Why is so much trashy reality tv not available online?  Is this a punishment for not having cable?  I want to watch cooking shows and badly behaved brides, is that so wrong?
  5. I got my 5×7 of Dominick Fortunato, sent personally by Charlene Butterbean!  WOO!

  1. 19 days until I leave for Tanzania.
  2. 32 days until I go back to work.
  3. 40 days until the children come back to work.
  4. Seems like alot when I look at it that way.  I really do need to start thinking about the trip and school.  Went to scout out a field trip today.  The western civilization section of natural history.  Needs dusting.
  5. Nice dinner tonight with friends.  For a person without cable, I sure can talk about TV.  I’ve been obsessed for the last few days watching (online) clips from “Say yes to the dress” (wedding dresses are surprisingly ugly) Cake Boss and Ace of cakes. (Cakes are pretty, and very hilarious when they are accidentally dropped down the stairs.)

  1. I took Michael and Claire back down to see the movie.
  2. I forgot the tickets so we could get in free.
  3. I had left my debit card in my other pants so I had to borrow money from my mother.
  4. That I wouldn’t have needed if I had brought the tickets.
  5. Also earlier in the day I stepped on a bee.  Didn’t get fully stung, but I think I did him an injury.  I felt bad about that.

  1. Paul and I had a fine trip to the wedding party in New York.  I received many compliments on my dress, and am very much in love with it and will be wearing it everywhere.  The new car gave us a lovely ride.
  2. In Northport there is a lovely little park by the water, which seems to welcome activity, except for the do not enter sign on the gazebo and the “No skateboarding, no ball playing, no horsing around, no nothing but walking in soft shoes and talking in low voices” sign.  Odd.
  3. Took Michael to see Night at the Museum at the Smithsonian, but the film broke or something, halfway through, so we had to leave.  I’m very sorry, as we were enjoying it.  Perhaps another attempt on Wednesday.
  4. I was simply attempting to up the bidding on the naming rightsfor an Itty Bitty Kitty (Though I really did want to win in my heart of hearts) in a fundraiser for the Humane Society.  I did win and am now eagerly awaiting the posting of the name I gave this charming little man
  5. I would like to be more intellectual and to be involved in scintillating conversation.  Must work on this.

  1. Hi Chrissie!  I see you peeking in from Rome over there on the side bar.
  2. It’s 1:28am and I am done with the roster and thank you notes and putting files on the jump drive for the Altar Guild Brunch tomorrow.  The key lanyard is in the wash, so the only thing left on my list is “remarks” and I am not sure what I am going to say, but let’s hope the Lord hits me with something coherent, say around 8am tomorrow, while I am having my coffee.
  3. Went to see a good student (high school and college) performance of King Lear tonight.  Creative staging and they really knew their dialoge – meaning not just memorization.
  4. Did I mention that I got promoted to Turtle Level 2 at the gym and it like ta killed me?  I think I might have.
  5. Melissa (sister-in-law) surprised Michael (nephew) with a surprise visit.  I picked her up at the airport, and she snuck into his room where he had just gone to bed.  He was super excited to see her!  It was great!

  1. Am worried that my “sassy number” though shortened in straps, now feels awkward.  It is a little too wide in the bodice.  I mean, it looks OK, I think (party anxiety setting in, so all bets are off) but eventually I think further alterations are in order.
  2. Almost all the altar guild paperwork is ready.  must finish (start) the roster tomorrow.
  3. And get a haircut, though this has nothing to do with Altar Guild.
  4. And get a spare key made for the aumbry.
  5. Big moment today at the gym, as Captain Asskick promoted me to the treadmill routine “Turtle 2.”  It wiped me out, but so did “Turtle 1″ back in the old days (june).  I also have, if you look very closely, some sort of dent in my arms, that could be the start of what might be called “guns” by those in the workout community. Woo!

Filed under: A little list of disjointed thoughts — Eleanor @ 9:24 pm
  1. I would like to understand the life of ants.
  2. I am not a fashionable girl, but I am pretty jazzed about the half price calvin klein dress I got for the partay in NY next week.  I just took it to the tailor to have the straps shortened a bit.  It is a “sassy number.”
  3. I said that I don’t understand the nature of love, but I think it is the stuff that purports to be love but is not that is the confusing issue.
  4. I must, must settle down in the house and do some paperwork in anticipation of the end of my reign of terror on the Altar Guild.  The turnover of power is next weekend.
  5. I want to write a poem or sing a song or something.

Filed under: My tedious self — Eleanor @ 9:21 pm
  1. Sometimes I feel really dumb.  Like tonight at camera class.  I took it to learn how to use my fancy digital camera.  Well, it is not very easy to remember what is happening with all the different buttons and settings.  I knew how to use a meter with a 35mm camera, but I cannot figure it out with this one.  Me feel dumb.
  2. Went to see Star Trek today.  GREAT!  Loved it. Wished it would have lasted longer, or that a sequel had begun immediately following.
  3. My friend Jeff is sick and in the hospital, and that is upsetting.
  4. I want to tell Captain AssKick that I want to change to someone who can train me in the morning, but I can’t (and by can’t I mean I cannot seem to make myself do it.)  I mean it makes perfect sense.  1 ish clearly isn’t great for him and I don’t love it all that much and 5 which seems better for him, I really don’t want.  I guess I am conflicted because a) I am a wuss, and b) I don’t really have a commitment at that time.  I feel like no one has listened to me when I said I wanted to work out early, or maybe I should have said “Morning” instead of early.  Anyway, it’s not like it is killing me, but it is bugging me.
  5. Trip to the DMV tomorrow. Car business.  Maybe a nap (after, not there.)

Filed under: Church, Entertainment, My Little House, Scary Workout Challenge — Eleanor @ 9:29 pm
  1. I have single handedly destroyed the church.  The “High Dusting” has brought down 30 years of black crap that is currently all over the floor!  Ahhhh!  It better look amazing when this is done, or at least like it used to be!
  2. I feel like I have spent alot of time at church lately, which I suppose I have, what with the cleaning, and the July 3rd crew and the July 4th service and regular church on Sunday.  I’m ready for the cleaning to be done and to go to some movies.
  3. Oh speaking of movies!  Paul and I did go to Whatever Works today, and it was great!  Though the Post panned it, we both liked it very much.  Nice afternoon.
  4. I sat in the window in my attic room, and could see the fireworks just peeking above the treeline.  There was a very good breeze on July 4th, in fact the weather was phenomenal.  Somehow our entire state has been transported to Canada or something.
  5. Working out is kind of kicking my behind. I suppose that is good, but it certainly takes more mental energy than I was anticipating.
