  1. About 10 trick or treaters last night.  Little kids from the neighborhood mostly.  A few teens.  No students of mine which is too bad because I made cupcakes.  Great restorers of faith for me were the folks across the hall who left a bowl of candy even though they weren’t there (excellent), and the trick or treaters who each only took a few pieces of same and didn’t empty the whole bowl into their sacks.  It restored my faith in Halloween and America.  I did feel a little lame about making the cupcakes, but none of them (my students) coming.  Oh well.  Cupcakes for teacher lunch on monday then.
  2. Went to the dedication of the new Organ (hee) and it sounds great.  It was a really nice service, and nice to see the results of all that planning.  “Organ!  Awake!”  (hee, again)
  3. In the last few days I’ve watched Ice Age, The Happening (only a little, even though I had seen it before it was too scary) and The Village.
  4. Chris left Afghanistan today and should be back with his family by the end of the week.  Hooray, Hooray, Hooray!
  5. Paul and I did some singing last night.  Very fun, though I am not tremendously talented.  Still fun though.  I think I would be better, never great but better, if I sang more often.  For a person who likes music, I sure don’t listen to much.

  1. Oh the working, it makes me so very tired.
  2. Second to last workout with my trainer tonight.  Just can’t afford time or money wise to keep that up, but it was a good experience.
  3. Lots and lots of work to do on my room and planning for the year, and of course the usual overage of meetings,
  4. I must be tired, because I am dozing off even as I type, and having some sort of weird dream about a crack pipe.
  5. Oh look, a kitty just jumped on my lap.  Now it is definitely time to say goodnight!

  1. I wanted to get all poitical, and buy a head scarf that had peace signs, or bright flowers, but I decided to play it cool, and if I am asked to cover my head in Tanzania, I’ve got a quiet dark purple number.
  2. While at dress barn looking for said scarf, I happened to see, on the blouse rack, what can only be described as a pink cotta.  No I did not buy it, but I was tempted, just to hang onto for some church humor.
  3. The summer’s exercise has gone well, and the only time I really fell off the wagon food wise was this past weekend, when, in addition to the delicious cake pops, I ate a ball of mozzerella.
  4. Paul and I went to see District 9.  Terrible!  Not the good sci fi yarn I was hoping for and that was implied by the trailer, but too much violence and noise.  Sadly I have dropped in the rankings for movie choice skill below our friend who took us to see Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, a record that had held for quite a long time.
  5. I’m nervous, and a little teary but also excited, and determined to be the daring person people seem to think I am, and in about 30 minutes my mom is coming to pick me up and take me to the airport to go to Tanzania.  Twitter updates and hopefully, evening reports will be posted on www.graceontheroad.wordpress.com.

  1. I would like to understand the life of ants.
  2. I am not a fashionable girl, but I am pretty jazzed about the half price calvin klein dress I got for the partay in NY next week.  I just took it to the tailor to have the straps shortened a bit.  It is a “sassy number.”
  3. I said that I don’t understand the nature of love, but I think it is the stuff that purports to be love but is not that is the confusing issue.
  4. I must, must settle down in the house and do some paperwork in anticipation of the end of my reign of terror on the Altar Guild.  The turnover of power is next weekend.
  5. I want to write a poem or sing a song or something.

  1. Some switch is on in my brain and I can’t sleep.  It’s that end of year time when things are moving way too fast.
  2. Tomorrow the kids will decorate the auditorium for the graduation of the students in our school who are in a special program for people with severe mental and physical disabilities.  I hope they will get something out of the experience, and that no one will fall of the ladders.
  3. New car could be happening Saturday!  Amazing!
  4. Chris sent me an awesome Pakol, which is the Afghan hat. Love it!  Thanks Elder Bro! A fitting end to a great birthday week!
  5. Captain Asskick has been working it.  My little heart monitor says that I’ve been burning about 700 calories a workout.  My arms were so sore I couldn’t fully extend them earlier in the week.

  1. All the world geo punks passed the test!  Hooray!  Now holding my breath til Monday for Ancient Civ.
  2. I hate standardized testing.
  3. For my birthday I think I might make a cake with fluffly pink icing.
  4. The honda fit seems to come in some sort of dark blue, and this makes it a strong contender.  But I do feel bad getting a new car when the old one is still running.  Maybe I should just repair it….hmmm…..I am tormented.
  5. I’m about maxed out on church meetings.  It seems like for the past few weeks and for at least the next two I have at least two a week.  I’m about ready to SNAP!  I no longer feel like a good contributor, or even the charming yet annoying “crazy vestry lady.”  I am just the mayor of grumpytown, population: me.

  1. Crying children at arena scheduling.
  2. Ignored by the hamburger boy.
  3. Alone in the church hallway, dancing and singing hymns.
  4. Confident in the promise of the resurrection, but not of God’s involvement in my everyday life.
  5. More on these later.

  2. Play rehearsal – miracle imminet one hopes.
  3. Clean classroom – Invited parents in this week for the mapping lesson.  Only one so far.
